Energy and Structure

Energy impacts structure.

Also, structure impacts energy…and its ability to flow freely.

Your breath is a great example of this idea.

Try this- without changing anything, notice where you can sense your breath in your body.  Maybe you feel the air in your nostrils or your throat.  Maybe you sense the movement of your chest, ribs, or belly as they expand and contract with each inhale and exhale. Don’t think about it, just observe.

Where is there evidence of energy moving in your body?  It’s not just your breath. Maybe you feel the pulse of your heartbeat, or you notice your fingers moving across your device. Maybe your eyes are tracking as you read, or you feel your jaw tighten.  Even small shifts or movements are evidence of energy impacting the physical structure of your body.

Now consider the position of your spine. Where are your shoulders in relation to your pelvis? Are you seated, standing, lying on your back or your side? Change positions.  It can be big or small.  Just notice, does it change how you feel –what happened to the flow of energy? Is it easier or harder to breathe? Is it the same? What else do you notice?

Your body is always adapting.  It is always trying to use energy efficiently and effectively.  And it does a really good job!

Most of us don’t realize all the ways our bodies are supporting us because it happens under our awareness.

Everything is connected.

How we breathe, move, distribute load, respond to sensation, and perceive safety all influence our experience. When we begin noticing those connections, we have more information—and more choices about how to respond.

Bodies change throughout life.

In fact, your body is designed to heal and adapt.  There is no denying that age and injury can influence your body’s structure and thereby its energetic flow.  If you tune in and listen to what your body is asking for, you will be able to offer support, thereby improving both mechanical function and energetic potential.

Thoughtful practice can focus on recognizing the capacity, resilience, awareness, and confidence available now and build toward what you desire. Creating a more supported structure reinforces connection so that energy can flow more freely, not just in your physical body, but in all the layers of your being!
